Prosecutor Worthy has charged Jameel L. Murphy (DOB: 11/04/1990), and Raymonique M. Williams (DOB: 01/24/1991), both of Detroit, in connection with assaulting two male Spirirt airlines workers.

On January 17, 2021, at 9:21 p.m. it is alleged that Murphy and Williams became upset and argued with a Spirirt gate agent about an issue concerning gate fees for their carry-on bags. It is further alleged that Murphy and Williams physically attacked the gate agent by striking him in the face and back whiile they attempted to open the boarding gate. when another Spirit agent attempted to intervene, Williams struck him in the head and Murphy also hit him in the head. Murphy and Williams were placed under arrest at the scene. The agent that intervened was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was subsequently released.

Murphy and Williams have each been charged with the following misdemeanors: Aggravated Assault, Assault and Battery, and Disturbing the Peace.* They were arraigned this afternoon in 34th District Coirt before Judge Brian Oakley in Romulus and given a $1000 personal bond. The defendants will have a pretrial hearing on March 17, 2021 at noon.

"It is hard to imagine that we are living in a civilized society these days. This case represents what we have lost today: collegiality, waiting your turn, following the rules, being good to your fellow citizen, and above all, being kind and patient. Everything you learned in kindergarten," said Prosecutor Worthy.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
