Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ali Chehade, 22, (DOB: 04/29/1999), of Dearborn, in connection with the killing of a parakeet.

On May 18, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Dearborn police officers were dispatched to a pet store in the 19300 block of Ecorse Road in Allen Park for an animal cruelty complaint. Upon arrival, officers observed the deceased parakeet in a smashed cardboard box. It is alleged that the defendant smashed the box that contained the bird with his fist and foot before fleeing the scene.

Ali Chehade has been charged with one count of Third-Degree Animal Killing, which carries up to four years in prison. * He was arraigned today in 24th District Court and given a $50,000.00 10% bond, with a psychological evaluation and is not allowed to have animals or pets in his home. The Probable Cause Conference is on June 7, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is on June 14, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Allen Park Police Department.
