Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Alexander Deonte Brown, 24, (DOB: 08/30/1996), of South Carolina, in connection with a non-fatal car crash.

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 2:13 a.m., Michigan State police officers were dispatched to Southbound I-75 near I-375 in Detroit for a reported personal injury crash. It is alleged that the defendant was intoxicated and driving at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the freeway. Brown struck a 27-year-old Detroit man's car head on, causing injury to his legs. The man was carried on a backboard by medics and transported to a local hospital. Brown's front seat passenger was a 23-year-old male who was trapped in the car and removed with the jaws of life. Medics put a cervical collar on him, placed him on a backboard, and transported him to a local hospital. He was observed to have a neck injury at the scene of the crash.
Alexander Deonte Brown has been charged with two counts of Operating While Under the Influence Causing Serious Injury and two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury. *

Brown was arraigned today in 36th District Court and given a $50,000/10% bond. He was also ordered to have no alcohol or drugs, an alcohol tether, an ignition interlock device, and he must surrender his passport. He is represented by attorney Ray Paige. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 26, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 9, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
