Prosecutor Worthy has charged Diallo Sekou Alexander, 40 (DOB:6/15/1976), of Detroit, in connection with the arson and attempted murder that occurred at an apartment building in Detroit. On April 9, 2017, Alexander received an eviction notice at his apartment located in the 15700 block of Mack Avenue in Detroit. On April 10, 2017 at approximately 1:00 p.m., it is alleged that Alexander was observed in the doorway of his apartment and shortly thereafter, smoke was observed coming from his apartment. Detroit firefighters were called to the scene and assisted tenants exiting the building.
On April 12, 2017, Alexander was charged and arraigned in 36th District Court with First Degree Arson and Attempted Murder.* The probable cause conference is scheduled for April 20, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for April 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
