Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Zachery Ryan Davis, 18, (DOB: 10/05/2003), of Detroit, in connection with the assault of Detroit police officers.

On February 8, 2022, at approximately 7:11 p.m., Detroit police officers were in the area of Chalfonte Street and Ardmore Street in Detroit looking for a stolen vehicle. Officers observed the defendant in the vehicle and proceeded to initiate a traffic stop. It is alleged that the defendant fled in the vehicle before stopping at the intersection of Chalfonte Street and Mark Twain Street. When officers exited their vehicle, they noticed that the defendant's vehicle changed angles to drive towards them. The officers re-entered their vehicle when it is further alleged that the defendant drove into the scout car, damaging the passenger side door. Officers began shooting in response to the defendant driving towards them. Davis struck the scout car a second time and was then shot by the police. His car slowly rolled forward before coming to a stop between Mark Twain Street and Strathmoor Street. Davis was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Zachery Ryan Davis has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Murder and one count of Third-Degree Fleeing and Eluding. *

He was arraigned on February 13, 2022 in 36th District Court and given a $1,000,000 cash bond with a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 22, 2022 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 1, 2022 in 36thDistrict Court before Judge Larry Williams.
