Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gerrard Elihu Love, 30, (DOB: 07/26/1990), of Detroit, in connection with the assault of a pregnant woman, 22, also of Detroit. The victim is the estranged girlfriend of Defendant Love.

On June 6, 2021 at approximately 2:15 p.m., Michigan State Police responded to reports of a male chasing a female on I-94 near Cadieux Road in Detroit. Upon arrival officers located victim on the ground on the left shoulder of the freeway with the defendant standing over her. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. Defendant Love was arrested at the scene.

It is alleged that an argument between the defendant and the victim escalated and Defendant Love forced the victim into a vehicle with the intent of crashing into a wall on the freeway. It is also alleged that Defendant Love threw the victim to the ground and assaulted her multiple times on the left shoulder of the freeway.

Gerrard Elihu Love has been charged with one count of Unlawful Imprisonment, three counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm - Strangulation, one count of Felon in Possession, and two counts of Felony Firearm. * He was arraigned today in 36th District Court and given a $200,000 bond with a GPS tether. He was also ordered to have no contact with the complaining witness. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 21, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones.
