Detroit Man Charged in Carjacking and Fatal Shooting of Tracie Golden
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Bradley Doss Thurman, 19, of Detroit, in connection with the carjacking and fatal shooting of Tracie Golden, 53, also of Detroit.
On December 28, 2022, at approximately 10:47 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a liquor store in the 19320 block of Grand River Avenue in Detroit for a reported carjacking. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim laying on the ground in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
It is alleged that Defendant Thurman fired a single shot at the victim as she was exiting the store, fatally wounding her. It is further alleged that the defendant robbed the victim of her car keys before fleeing the scene in her vehicle. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on January 13, 2023.
Bradley Doss Thurman has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder, one count of Felony Murder, one count of Armed Robbery, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *
"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Tracie Golden after this senseless crime. I have been doing this work for a very long time. I still cannot wrap my brain around the fact that people kill because they want something that someone else has. In this case the defendant allegedly shot Ms. Golden for her car. He took her car and her life. One can be replaced but the other cannot," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
Defendant Thurman was arraigned and remanded to jail on January 16, 2023, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 24, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 31, 2023, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
