Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ronald Deshawn Yharbrough, 24, (DOB: 08/05/1997), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Brendan Shelton, 31, of Inkster.

On August 29, 2021, at approximately 8:27 a.m., Dearborn police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 5070 block of Heather Drive in Dearborn for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim on the ground in the rear of the building, unresponsive, with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Yharbrough fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding the victim, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Dearborn Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant.

Ronald Deshawn Yharbrough has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder, and one count of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned this morning via Zoom in 19th District Court and given a $500,000 cash bond with a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., before Judge Sam Salamey.
