Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run
On October 17, 2021, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Amrad Street and Syracuse Street in Detroit for a reported Pedestrian Hit and Run. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim lying in the street with multiple apparent injures. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to local hospital for treatment. Mr. Savaya succumbed to his injures on October 19, 2021.
It is alleged that the defendant was driving west on Amrad Street at a high rate of speed when he ran over the victim, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on November 3, 2021.
Dajuan Raymond Allen has been charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of Second-Degree Murder. *
The defendant was arraigned and remanded to jail on November 5, 2021 in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 17, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 24, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
