On April 4, 2022, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Christopher Johnson, 32, (DOB: 04/18/1989), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of his brother, Dazion Zachary, 23, also of Detroit.

On March 31, 2022, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 11700 block of Sussex Street in Detroit for reports of a person with a weapon. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim in the basement of the home with a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Johnson fired a handgun through a closed door in the home, fatally wounding the victim. More complete facts will be placed on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Christopher Johnson has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder, one count of Discharge in or at a Building Causing Death, one count of Felon in Possession, and one count of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on April 4, 2022, in 36th District Court, however, the complete arraignment information did not appear on the court computer until recently. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 19, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 26, 2022, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
