Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gaylord Joseph Rogers, 66, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of his live-in girlfriend Maggie Stancil, 54, also of Detroit.

On November 3, 2022, at approximately 12:32 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a apartment complex in the 7500 block of East Jefferson Avenue for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that a verbal argument between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Rogers produced and fired a rifle, fatally wounding Ms. Stancil.

Gaylord Joseph Rogers has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Discharge in a Building Causing Death, and one count of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on November 5, 2022, in 36th District Court.
