Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Nathaniel Alex McDuffie, 63, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Eric Sanders, 59, also of Detroit. The defendant and the victim were residing together at the time of the incident.

On February 26, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 16520 block of Lilac Street for a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim on the upper level of the home, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his right abdomen. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that during a verbal altercation between the defendant and victim, Defendant McDuffie stabbed Mr. Sanders multiple times with a knife, fatally wounding him, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on March 29, 2023.

Nathaniel Alex McDuffie has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder. *

He was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court and given a $750,000 cash bond. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for April 3, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 13, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 20, 2023, at 1:45 pm., before Judge Kenneth King.
