Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Carlos A. Terry, 38 (DOB: 01/11/1982), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Albert R. Wright, 85, also of Detroit.

On January 21, 2020 at 11:27 a.m., Detroit police officers were called to a home in the7440 block of Pilgrim Street to conduct a wellbeing check on Mr. Wright since he had not been seen in several days. When the officers received no answer at the door, they requested assistance from the Detroit Fire Department and gained entry into the home. Mr. Wright's lifeless body was discovered in a metal cabinet, bound and gagged with head trauma. The defendant was located inside the home and placed under arrest. It is alleged that the defendant stole personal items from the victim and subsequently killed him. Further facts and evidence in the case will be placed on the record at the Preliminary Examination.

Defendant Terry has been charged with First Degree Murder, and First Degree Felony Murder.* He was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Jeffrey Kleparek. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 5, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 12, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lynise Bryant in 36th District Court.
