Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Dwan Floyd Dudley, 25, (DOB: 03/02/1995), of Detroit, in connection with the death of a female infant who was in his care. The defendant and the infant's mother were acquainted.

On February 25, 2020, EMS technicians were dispatched to a residence in the 16100 block of Robson in Detroit in response to a 911 call regarding an infant who was not breathing. As Detroit police officers arrived, medics transported the infant to a local hospital for treatment however the infant succumbed to her injuries. It is alleged that the defendant caused the death of the infant.

Dudley has been charged with Felony Murder and Child Abuse - First Degree.*

Prosecutor Worthy said, "This is yet another tragic child death that has occurred during the COVID 19 virus period. There is much going on in this country at this moment in time. We must not take this out on our children."

Dudley was arraigned on May 31, 2020 out-county in 34 th District Court in Romulus. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 11, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for June 17, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. Both hearings are before Judge Roberta Archer in 36th District Court.
