Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Shon Glen Lacey, Jr., 20 (DOB: 03/10/1999), of Detroit, in connection with carjacking and assault of a 72-year-old Detroit woman on February 6, 2020.

On February 6, 2020 at approximately 8:24 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 13970 block of Lauder Street in Detroit. Upon arrival, the officers observed large amounts of blood in the home. The victim was located and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her serious injuries.

It is alleged that the defendant knew the victim and had shoveled her snow in the past. It is further alleged that Lacey assaulted with the victim by repeatedly striking her with a rock in the head and upper torso. Lacey also stole her vehicle and drove it away. DPD officers canvassed the area in a marked patrol car and upon locating the vehicle, initiated a traffic stop. Lacey drove away and struck another vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot. Investigation by the Detroit Police officers led to the arrest of the defendant nearby.

Lacey has been charged with Carjacking, Assault with Intent to Murder, Motor Vehicle - Unlawful Driving Away, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property - Motor Vehicle and Fleeing and Eluding Police - Third Degree. * On February 8, 2020, Lacey was arraigned in 34th District Court before Magistrate Linda Mack. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 19, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 26, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones in 36th District Court.
