Detroit Man Charged in Liquor Store Robbery and Fatal Shooting
On January 17, 2022, at approximately 9:16 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a liquor store in the 20440 block of James Couzens Freeway in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located Mr. Rasho inside with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
It is alleged that the defendant entered the store and fired a handgun, fatally wounding the victim, before robbing the store and fleeing the scene.
Dvante Antionoi Howard has been charged with one count of Felony Murder, two counts of Armed Robbery, one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, and four counts of Felony Firearm. *
Defendant Howard has also been charged in connection with a separate robbery case. On December 31, 2021, at approximately 6:40 a.m., at a gas station in the 20250 block of James Couzens Freeway, it is alleged that the defendant produced a handgun and robbed and assaulted the gas station clerk, before fleeing the scene. He has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery Causing Serious Injury, one count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *
The defendant was arraigned on both cases this afternoon in 36thDistrict Court. He was remanded to jail in the homicide case. He received a $500,000 cash bond.in the separate robbery case and ordered to have no contact with the complaining witnesses. The Probable Cause Conferences for both cases will be held on February 10, 2022 and the Preliminary Examinations will be held on February 17, 2022 in 36th District Court.
