On March 8, 2022, Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Ronde Malike Gill, 19, (DOB: 02/26/2002), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Keyvontae Smith, 29, and the assault of a 32-yearold man, both of Detroit.

On February 2, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 12030 block of Montrose Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim inside the dining room of the residence bleeding and unresponsive. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

It is alleged that the defendant entered the home and fired a handgun, fatally wounding Mr. Smith. It is further alleged that Defendant Gill fought with the 32-year-old victim before fleeing the scene.

Ronde Malike Gill has been charged with one count of Premeditated Murder First-Degree, one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on March 9, 2022, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 23, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 30, 2022, at 1:45 p.m. before Judge Kenneth King.
