Detroit Man Charged in Multiple Car Thefts
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Delano Drake, 20, (DOB: 02/02/2001), of Detroit, in connection with a series of carjackings, thefts, and related charges in a 25-count criminal felony information.
From September 23, 2021 through November 4, 2021, it is alleged that the defendant committed a series of carjackings, unlawful driving away of various cars and receiving and stealing Dodge Rams, Dodge Challengers, Jeep Cherokees, and Chrysler 200s and 300s. The defendant was placed under arrest this week by the Detroit Police Department. At this time there are related matters that are under investigation and no further facts will be revealed. More complete facts will be placed on the record in court.

"The evidence in this case will show that the alleged actions of this defendant were brazen, and extremely dangerous," said Prosecutor Worthy. "These victims just wanted to go about their daily lives and were met by this defendant who allegedly wanted what they had - no matter the consequences."
Defendant Drake was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court and given $2,500,000 cash/surety bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 23, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 30, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Roberta Archer.
