Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Carlous Skipper, Jr., 25 (DOB:05/14/1996), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Yousef Al-Gabri, 43, of Detroit. On January 14, 2021, at 2:32 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a location in the 16540 block of Wisconsin near Florence in Detroit where they observed a SUV had struck the front porch of the location. Medics removed Mr. Al-Gabri from the vehicle and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. It was determined that the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds.

On January 14, 2021, Mr. Al-Gabri was working as an Uber driver. It is alleged that on the same day at 2:08 a.m. the defendant used a phone under a different name to call an Uber to the location in the16540 block of Wisconsin. It is further alleged that when the Uber arrived the defendant fired multiple shots with a handgun fatally wounding Mr. Al-Gabri. On March 9, 2021, investigation by the Detroit Police Department resulted in the identification and the arrest of Defendant Skipper.

Carlous Skipper, Jr. has been charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm. * He was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 36th District Court. His Probable Cause Conference is on March 23, 2021, and his Preliminary Examination is on March 30, 2021 before Judge Kenneth King.
