Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Rondell Lamar Watters, 44, (DOB: 06/30/1977), of Detroit, in connection with the murder of Latima Warren, 32, also of Detroit. Ms. Warren was the defendant's girlfriend.

Ms. Warren was reported missing by the grandmother of her children on December 28, 2021. As a result of an investigation conducted by the Detroit Police Department assisted by the Michigan State Police, on January 17, 2022, they went to the defendant's home in the 8940 block of Vaughn in Detroit. While there, a cadaver dog found human remains concealed in a bag in the basement of the house. On January 18, 2022, another bag was discovered in the upstairs area with human remains. The evidence was conveyed to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office. Ms. Warren was determined to be the victim and her death was ruled a homicide.

Rondell Lamar Watters has been charged with one count of Open Murder, one count of Mutilation of a Body, and one count of Tampering with Evidence. *

The defendant was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 3, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 10, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. in 36th District Court before Judge Kenneth King.
