Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Hemida Ramadan-Khedr Mohamed, 42, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Steven Gipson, 59, also of Detroit. The defendant and the victim were janitorial custodians at Redford Union High School in Redford, MI.

On November 2, 2023, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Redford police officers were dispatched to Redford Union High School, located in the 17700 block of Kinloch Street for a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, officers observed the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his stomach. Members of the Redford Fire Department transported Mr. Gipson to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Mohamed stabbed Mr. Gipson multiple times with a knife, fatally injuring him.

Hemida Ramadan-Khedr Mohamed has been charged with First-Degree Murder.*

He was arraigned and remanded to jail this morning in 17th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 14, 2023, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 21, 2023, before Judge Krista Haroutunian.
