Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jimmy Acuff, 40, (DOB: 03/14/1981), of Detroit, in connection with the assault of a 30-year-old Detroit woman. The defendant and victim have children in common.

On March 6, 2022, at approximately 11:30 a.m., at a motel in the 22750 block of Grand River Avenue in Detroit, it is alleged that defendant and victim had a verbal argument. When the victim entered a vehicle to leave, it is alleged that the defendant punched her in the face. It is further alleged that Defendant Acuff produced a pocket-knife and entered the vehicle, stabbing the victim multiple times, before fleeing the scene. The victim was privately transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Acuff on March 7, 2022.

Jimmy Acuff has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, one count of Felonious Assault, and one count of Domestic Violence. *

He was arraigned today in 36th District Court and given a $325,000 cash bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 17, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for March 24, 2022, at 8:45 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King.
