Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ryan Alexander Jones, 30, (DOB: 06/17/1990), of Detroit, in connection with the unlawful imprisonment of a Detroit woman, 30, (DOB: 11/04/1990), and the abuse of a dog. Defendant Jones and the victim have a child in common.

On June 5, 2021 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 760 block of Woodmere in Detroit for a reported hostage situation. Upon arrival, officers located the defendant inside of the residence with the victim, refusing to come out. Officers forced entry into the residence and arrested the defendant at the scene.

It is alleged that an argument between the Defendant Jones and the victim escalated and the defendant fired a gunshot into the floor of the residence before threating to shoot the victim. It is also alleged that the defendant kicked a dog and threw it down a flight of steps.

Ryan Alexander Jones has been charged with one count of Unlawful Imprisonment, one count of Discharge in/at a Building, one count of Felon in Possession, one count of Felonious Assault, four counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Cruelty to One Animal, and one count of Domestic Violence. * He was arraigned yesterday in 36th District Court and given a $50,000/10% bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the complaining witness. The Probable Cause Conference is on June 17, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is on June 24, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones.
