Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Andrew Brown, 29, (DOB: 06/09/1992), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Jason Cowins, 25, with a 47-year-old male front seat passenger, both of Detroit.
On April 11, 2022, at approximately 8:41 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a fire station in the 6320 block of West Chicago Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers observed medics on scene giving medical attention to Mr. Cowins. The passenger was inside the car when the shots were fired. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on April 12, 2022.
James Andrew Brown has been charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, one count of Felon in Possession, and three counts of Felony Firearm. *
He was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 21, 2022, at 2:30 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.
