Detroit Man Charged with Possession of a Firearm and Taser
On May 10, 2022, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Michigan State Police officers were on patrol in the area of East Eight Mile Road and Archdale in Detroit when they observed Defendant Knight disregard a red light. Officers initiated a traffic stop and pulled the defendant over at the intersection of East Eight Mile Road and Basil. During the traffic stop, officers discovered that the defendant was in possession of a firearm and a taser. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Edward Eugene Knight has been charged with one count of Felon in Possession, two counts of Felony Firearm, one count of Felon in Possession - Ammunition, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, one count of Possession of a Taser, one count of Driving While License Suspended, and one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Security. *
The defendant was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court and given an $18,000 personal bond. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 18, 2022, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 25, 2022, before Judge Roberta Archer.
