Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Milton Jones, 24, (DOB: 05/05/1997), and Sedale Lee Gilliam, 27, (DOB: 05/19/1994), both of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man, also of Detroit.

On June 22, 2021 at approximately 7:45 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 19460 block of Buffalo Street in Detroit in response to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers located the victim at the intersection of Moenart Street and East Lantz Street in the driver's seat of his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. It is alleged that a physical altercation between Defendant Jones and the victim escalated into the non-fatal shooting before the defendants fled the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendants on June 23, 2021.

James Milton Jones and Sedale Lee Gilliam have been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm - Less than Murder, and four counts of Felony firearm.

The defendants were arraigned on June 26, 2021 in 36th District Court and given a $750,000/ 10% bond. They were also ordered to have no contact with the complaining witness. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 7, 2021 at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 14. 2021 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King.
