Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Charles Dunnell, 35, (DOB: 06/09/1984), of Detroit, in connection with the sexual assault of a then 17-year-old woman. The defendant was the teacher of the victim at East English Village High School in the 17200 block of Southampton Street in Detroit.

On June 1, 2019, at approximately 8:00 p.m., it is alleged that the defendant knew the victim was alone when he went to her Detroit home. While there he illegally gave her alcohol and had inappropriate sexual contact with her. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on July 7, 2021.

Charles Dunnell has been charged with one count of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, and one count of Selling or Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor. * He was arraigned on July 7, 2021 in 36th District Court and given a $20,000 bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the complaining witness and is unable to reside with minors. His Preliminary Examination is scheduled for September 29, 2021 in 36th District Court before Judge Kenyetta Stanford Jones.
