Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Glencetta Gloster-Washington, 39 (DOB: 08/22/2017) of Detroit, in connection with the death of her newborn daughter.

On March 26, 2017, at the family home in the 3500 block of Yorkshire in Detroit, relatives discovered Gloster-Washington bleeding and unresponsive and took her to a local hospital. It is alleged that the defendant was determined to have recently given birth. Detroit Police officers were dispatched to the location and discovered the remains of a newborn female in a garbage bag in a trash container outside of the residence.

Gloster-Washington has been charged with Murder – First Degree, Felony Murder – First Degree and Concealing the Death of an Individual.* She was arraigned on April 1, 2017 in 34th District Court in Romulus and received a $500,000/10% bond and a tether, if she is released on bond. Her probable cause hearing is on April 11, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. and her preliminary examination is on April 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. before Judge William McConico in 36th District Court.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
