Ecorse Man Charged in Sexual Assault of Child Relative
The victim, now in her mid-teens, filed a police report on April 27, 2021, that alleges that the defendant sexually assaulted her in a Detroit home when she was 10. WCPO received a warrant request in September 2021 and in early February 2022, WCPO charged Melvin Conway with one count of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct (person under 13). *
Today the Detroit Police Department, assisted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Department arrested of the defendant on February 28, 2022.
Mr. Conway was arraigned today in 36th District Court before Magistrate Joseph A. Boyer and given a 75,000/% bond with a GPS tether. His Probable Cause Conference is on March 10, 2022 and his Preliminary Examination is on March 17, 2022. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Detroit Police Department.
