Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Michael Shawn Holcomb, 52, of Ecorse, in connection with the sexual assaults of a 78-year-old woman and an 85-year-old woman, both of Dearborn. The victims are sisters who resided together in Dearborn.

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Dearborn police officers were dispatched to a residence on Carlysle Court for a reported home invasion and sexual assault. Upon their arrival, officers located both victims inside of the home suffering from multiple injuries. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that Defendant Holcomb physically and sexually assaulted the victims before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Dearborn Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant later the same day. More specific facts and evidence will be introduced at the preliminary examination in the case.

Michael Shawn Holcomb has been charged with five counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, two counts of Torture, one count of Second-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, and two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm.*

"The alleged actions of the defendant in this case are among the most egregious and deplorable that I have seen in my 30 plus years in criminal law. The facts truly shock the conscience. The 85 and 78-year-old victims were brutalized, tortured, and repeatedly sexually assaulted. We will strive mightily to bring them some semblance of justice," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

He was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 19th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 1, 2024, before Judge Mark Somers. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Dearborn Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
