Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Lawrence Paul Mills, III 32, (DOB: 09/03/1987) of Garden City, in connection with the death a 34-year old Detroit woman. On April 27, 2020, Mills was previously charged with First Degree Murder in connection with the December 13, 2017 death of a 59-year-old Detroit woman.

On October 16, 2017 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Detroit Police were dispatched to the area of Casper and Cypress Streets. The officers were met by medics already on the scene. The officers observed the victim's lifeless body lying on the sidewalk on Cypress Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined that she died from multiple injuries.

Investigation into the case by the Detroit Police Department spanned several years and led to the arrest of Lawrence Paul Mills, III on April 24, 2020. It is alleged he deliberately hit and killed the victim with his vehicle. Further details of the case will be presented in court at the Preliminary Examination.

Mills has been charged with First Degree Murder and Assault on a Pregnant Individual Causing Miscarriage/Stillbirth.* He was arraigned this morning in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 20, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Kenyetta Stanford-Jones in 36th District Court.
