Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Chad David Wicker, 36, (DOB: 12/19/1978), of Garden City, in connection with operating and maintaining Methamphetamine lab. On July 30, 2017, Westland Police officers were dispatched to a location in the 34000 block of Decatur Court in Westland to investigate a possible Methamphetamine lab in a vacant garage. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the Methamphetamine lab and secured the scene. Westland police officers located and arrested Wicker at the scene.

Wicker has been charged with Operating/maintaining a Methamphetamine lab, Attempted Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine and B & E of a Building with Intent to Commit a Felony*. He was arraigned today before 18th District Court Judge David Wiacek. The probable cause conference is scheduled for August 10, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. before 18th District Court Judge Sandra Cicirelli; the preliminary examination is scheduled for August 17, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Mark McConnell in 18th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

"Methamphetamine is a very dangerous and highly addictive drug. The possibilities for large explosions are a great risk - especially in urban areas. The alleged activities of this defendant that were thwarted by witnesses and law enforcement potentially saved many lives," said Prosecutor Worthy.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
