Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Nathan Jordan-Donald Barks, 30, (DOB: 06/17/1991), of Huron Township, in connection with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Dawn Sinkey, 36, also of Huron Township.

On February 27, 2022, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Huron Township police officers responded to a 911 call at a residence in the 27430 block of Bordeau Street in Huron Township. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. It is alleged that and argument between the defendant and the victim escalated, and Defendant Barks fired a handgun, fatally wounding Ms. Sinkey, before fleeing the scene. Defendant Barks was arrested later the same day.

Nathan Jordan-Donald Barks has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Murder, one count of Felon in Possession, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *

The defendant was arraigned and remanded to jail this morning in 34th District Court. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 16, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. in 34th District Court before Judge Lisa Martin. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Huron Township Police Department.
