Inkster Man Charged in Caniff Street Robbery and Fatal Shooting
On October 28, 2021, at approximately 2:56 p.m., Hamtramck police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3520 block of Caniff Street in Hamtramck for a reported medical emergency. Upon their arrival, officers located the victims inside the residence deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
It is alleged that on October 27, 2021, at approximately 9:03 p.m., Defendant Young robbed the victims and during the robbery, fired a handgun, fatally wounding Mr. Anderson and Ms. Thomas, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Hamtramck Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on November 9, 2021.
Rayquan Ralph Young has been charged with two counts of Felony Murder, two counts of Armed Robbery, and four counts of Felony Firearm. *
He was arraigned and remanded to jail yesterday, November 14, 2021 in 31st District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 23, 2021 and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for November 30, 2021 in 31st District Court before Judge Alexis Krot.
