Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged James Lauther Moore, 76, (DOB: 09/27/1944), of Inkster, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of Elisha Parker, 27, of Wayne.

On April 13, 2021 at approximately 2:21 p.m., the victim went to the home of Defendant Moore in the 1620 block of Helen Street in Inkster because of a request for life insurance information. It is alleged that the defendant became verbally aggressive with the victim and there was an argument. It is also alleged that the argument between Mr. Parker and Defendant Moore escalated and the defendant shot the victim in the left knee. The victim drove away from the scene and flagged down Inkster police officers who escorted him to a local hospital for treatment.

James Lauther Moore has been charged with One Count of Assault with Intent to Murder, One Count of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, One Count of Felonious Assault, and Three Counts of Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned on April 15, 2021 in 22nd District Court and given a $500,000 cash/surety bond, GPS tether, and a 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m. curfew. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 21, 2021 in 22nd District Court. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Inkster Police Department.
