After a weeklong manhunt Joshua Hill, 25, of Inkster, was taken into custody on Sunday, September 10, 2023, by the Detroit Police for the murder of his mother. Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged him on September 5, 2023, in connection with the fatal shooting of his 64-year-old mother at her home in the 29020 block of Glenwood Street in Inkster, MI.

It is alleged that on September 4, 2023, Hill had a verbal argument with his mother and threatened her with a gun. Inkster Police arrived at the home at 2:15 p.m. and discovered his mother's body in her bedroom with apparent gunshot wounds to her body. She was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. It is alleged that Hill fatally shot his mother multiple times and fled from the home. Other facts and evidence will be introduced at the preliminary examination.

Hill has been charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.* Any charges related to the apprehension of the defendant with a weapon will be added to the homicide case at the time of the preliminary examination.

"Matricide is not a crime that is widely committed. We are alleging that Joshua Hill did just that. We are relieved that he has finally been found and taken into custody. We will now begin the process of bringing justice to the rest of his family," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Hill was arraigned and received a $1 million bond today in 22 District Court today before Judge Sabrina Johnson. His Probable Cause Conference is on September 20, 2023, at 9:00 a.m.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
