Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Joshua McCormick, 21 (DOB:11/21/2000), of Livonia, in connection with a non- fatal shooting of a 38-year-old Detroit man.

On November 21, 2020, at 5:13 p.m. Detroit Police were dispatched to West Eight Mile Road and Vaughn. When they arrived they observed the male victim with gunshot wounds in the middle of his body. Medics transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that McCormick was driving in a stolen car when he rear-ended the victim while he was in his car at a stop light. When the victim got out of his car to inspect the damage, he had a brief conversation with McCormick, and it is alleged that McCormick pulled out a handgun and shot him multiple times.

McCormick was not in custody when a warrant was authorized this week for Assault with intent to Murder, Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, two counts of Felony Firearm and misdemeanor Failure to Report an Accident. He was arrested by the Detroit Police on Friday, March 19, 2021.

He was arraigned this morning in 34th District Court and was given a $1,000,000 cash bond. His Probable Cause Conference is on March 31, 2021, and his Preliminary Examination is on April 6, 2021.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
