A 16-year-old Detroit male has been charged in connection with the non-fatal shootings of two male that occurred near Rivard and Atwater at the Detroit Riverwalk.

On April 16, 2023, at around 12:30 a.m., the 16-year-old was at the Detroit Riverwalk near Rivard and Atwater when he allegedly shot several times at a man who was riding in a car. The defendant is not being tried as an adult. His next court date is on May 9, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Cylenthia LaToye Miller in the Lincoln Hall of Justice.

"The Detroit Riverwalk is one of Detroit's true jewels that has been voted the best in the United States. While every single shooting is tragic, this Riverwalk case is particularly disturbing," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy." "It is an understatement to say these allegations show that the defendant had no regard for the people that wanted to simply enjoy the sights along the river on the evening of this offense."
