Juvenile Charged in Fatal Shooting of 14-Year-Old Girl
On July 10, 2022, at approximately 4:11 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Riverfront Drive for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim inside the apartment suffering from a gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
It is alleged that as a handgun was being passed around, the juvenile pointed and fired the handgun, fatally wounding the victim, before fleeing the scene.
The Juvenile respondent has been charged with one count of Manslaughter - Aimed with Intent but without Malice, and one count of Felony Firearm. *
His Preliminary Hearing was held this afternoon at the Lincoln Hall of Justice and the juvenile was given a $10,000 cash/surety bond. His Pre-Trial is scheduled for August 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., before Judge Christopher Dingell.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
