Juvenile Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting of 12-Year-Old Boy
On July 10, 2022, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the juvenile was pushing the victim in a go-kart in the area of Fairmount and Alcoy in Detroit when it is alleged that the juvenile attempted to retrieve a handgun that from under the seat of the go-kart. While grabbing the handgun it is further alleged that the juvenile fired the weapon, striking the victim in the right calf. The victim was privately conveyed to a local hospital for treatment.
The juvenile respondent has been charged with one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and one count of Careless Discharge of a Firearm Causing Injury. *
His Preliminary Hearing was held this afternoon at the Lincoln Hall of Justice and the juvenile was given a $7,500/10% bond and was placed on house arrest. His Pre-Trial is scheduled for July 25, 2022, at 10:15 a.m. before Judge Edward Joseph.
