Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a juvenile male, age 15, (DOB: 12/20/2005), in connection with threats made against a Taylor High School security guard. He will be prosecuted as a juvenile respondent.

On September 22, 2021, at approximately 8:56 a.m., Taylor police officers were dispatched to Taylor High School in the 11210 block of Beech Daly for a reported disorderly student. Upon their arrival, they located the juvenile outside of the school. When asked to come back, officers conduct a search of the student and found a semi-automatic handgun. The juvenile was arrested at the scene.

It is alleged that the juvenile respondent threatened to shoot the security guard after he was told to return to his class.

The juvenile respondent has been charged with one count each of: Carrying a Concealed Weapon; Schools- Intentional Threat to Commit Act of Violence against School Employees or School; and Weapon-Free Schools- Possessing Weapon. * His Preliminary Hearing was held today before Referee Leslie Graves. The juvenile respondent received a $5000/10% bond and has been ordered to have no contact with Taylor High School. His next hearing will be held on Zoom before Judge Frank Szymanski on October 13, 2021, at 8:30 a.m.
