Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Alexander Scott Webster, 30, of Lincoln Park, in connection with the theft of a bike from a 21-year-old man, also of Lincoln Park, that led to an officer involved shooting.

On July 14, 2023, around midnight, around Marion Avenue between Oconnor Avenue and Russell Avenue in Lincoln Park, it is alleged that Defendant Webster robbed the victim of his bicycle with a knife. When the victim returned to the area to retrieve the bicycle, it is further alleged that Defendant Webster appeared and attempted to hit the victim with his vehicle. The victim produced and fired a handgun at Webster's vehicle but did not strike him.

Shortly thereafter, Lincoln Park police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1550 block of Marion Avenue for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, it is alleged that the defendant attempted to strike the officers with his vehicle. Officers fired shots at the Defendant's vehicle, striking Webster. Webster fled from the scene at a high rate of speed but was apprehended by officers a short time later and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Alexander Scott Webster has been charged with two counts of Felonious Assault. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on July 17, 2023, in 25th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., before Judge David Zelenak. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Lincoln Park Police Department.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
