Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Autumn Chenell Tate, 28, (DOB: 06/07/1992), of Lincoln Park in connection with the murder of her newborn child.

On March 6, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Lincoln Park police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Fort Street in Lincoln Park for report for a suspicious situation. Upon arrival, the officers located a plastic bag with the deceased newborn inside. Investigation by the Lincoln Park Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on March 30, 2021. It is alleged that the defendant gave birth beside a lake near her residence. It is also alleged that the defendant threw the infant into a garbage bag before abandoning him.

Autumn Chenell Tate has been charged with One Count of Felony Murder, One Count of First-Degree Child Abuse, and One Count of Abandonment of a Child. She was arraigned on April 15, 2021 in 25th District Court. Her Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 27, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge David Zelenak.
