Marygrove High School Student Charged with Possession of Weapon on School Property
On May 24, 2022, at Marygrove High School in Detroit, it is alleged that the juvenile brought a BB gun to the school and pulled the weapon out during class. The juvenile was taken into custody on May 25, 2022.
The juvenile respondent has been charged with Possession of a Weapon in a Weapons-Free School Zone. *
The Preliminary Hearing was held on May 26,2022 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. The Juvenile was given a $3,000/10% bond and cannot have possession of weapons, no illegal drug use, and no contact with Marygrove High School. His PreTrial is scheduled for June 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., before Referee Charles Wilson.
"We are all hypersensitive right now about deadly weapons being brought into schools and the carnage that can occur as a result. The alleged actions of this respondent simply cannot be tolerated. We are alleging that this weapon was displayed and later discovered to be a BB Gun. This does not diminish the severity of this respondent's actions," said Prosecutor Worthy.
*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
