Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Preaija Pope, 22 (DOB:11/26/1998), in connection with the homicide of her live-in boyfriend Timmy Robinson, 30, both of Melvindale. Ms. Pope's father, Perry Pope, 44 (DOB: 03/20/1976), of Taylor, has been charged as an Accessory After the Fact in connection with the homicide of Mr. Robinson.

On October 21, 2020, at 10:24 p.m., Melvindale police officers were dispatched to the 440 block of Gale Street. Upon arrival they observed Mr. Robinson lying on the street with blood around his head and a head wound. He received medical assistance from the police. When medics from Dearborn arrived, they continued care for Robinson and transported him to a local hospital. Mr. Robinson was later pronounced deceased as a result of a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
While investigating the homicide the police went to an apartment in the 430 block of Gale that Ms. Pope and Mr. Robinson shared. Outside of the apartment they confiscated a shotgun and other evidence. It is alleged that Ms. Pope fatally shot the defendant. It is also alleged that her father, Mr. Perry Pope, tampered with evidence at the crime scene of the shooting, and was an accessory after the fact of the homicide. More specific facts and evidence in the case will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.

On December 22, 2020, a warrant request was received by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office
from the Melvindale police. The defendants were not in custody at the time of the review. On
January 28, 2021, after the review of the case was completed Preaija Pope was charged with First
Degree Murder and Felony Firearm.* Her father, Perry Pope was charge with Tampering with
Evidence - Crime over 10 years, Accessory After the Fact, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and
three counts of Felony Firearm.*
On Friday, February 5, 2021, the Popes were in custody and arraigned in 24th District Court. Ms.
Pope was remanded to jail. Her Probable Cause Conference is on February 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
and her Preliminary Examination is on February 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Pope was arraigned
and given a 25,000/10% bond with a GPS tether. His Probable Cause conference is on March 1,
2021 at 9:00 a.m. His Preliminary Examination is on March 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. The defendants
have been ordered to have no contact with each other. Please request a photograph of the

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
