Montgomery Charged In Violent Attack Of Detroit Medics
Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Michael Montgomery, 30, of Detroit in connection with the
violent assault on two Detroit Emergency Medical Technicians on October 20, 2015 at
approximately 12:30 a.m. It is alleged that Montgomery attacked EMTs Alfredo Rojas and Kelly
Adams near a location in the 3400 block of Third Street while they were attempting to transport an
injured female to the hospital Montgomery became upset when he was not allowed to get into the
ambulance. It is alleged that Montgomery attacked Rojas and Kelly multiple times with a knife and
fled from the scene. The medics drove themselves to a local hospital where they received
treatment for their serious and life threatening injuries sustained during the attack.
On Monday, October 19, 2015, Montgomery was charged with First Degree Premeditated Murder,
First Degree Felony Murder, and Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree in connection with a
January 1, 2006 homicide of a 16-year-old Detroit woman It is alleged that Montgomery sexually
assaulted and fatally stabbed the woman in the rear of a location in the 19848 block of Joy Road in
Detroit.
On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, Montgomery was also charged with two counts of Criminal Sexual
Conduct - First Degree, Kidnapping, Torture and Felony Firearm. It is alleged that on December
23, 2005, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Montgomery kidnapped, tortured and sexually assaulted a
33-year-old Detroit woman in an alley in the 8600 block of Auburn in Detroit. On October 20, 2015
at approximately 8:30 p.m., Montgomery was arrested by the Violent Crimes Task Force.
Today Montgomery has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Two counts
of Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, one count of Assault with Intent to Maim and one
count of Resisting and Obstructing Causing Serious Injury.
Prosecutor Worthy said, "The confluence of very tragic and violent events that led to the arrest of Defendant Montgomery on charges brought today, as well as previously charged cases this week alone, are astounding. This office stands ready to prove each and every one of these charges in a court of law."
The arraignment of Montgomery is expected to occur this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in 36th District. Court.
