On June 24, 2022, at 12:45 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a home in the 12760 block of Monte Vista for a wellness check on a child. The officers discovered the remains of a deceased child in the freezer.

The investigation identified Azuradee France, 31 (DOB: 06/11/1991), as the mother of the deceased three-year-old male child. The medical examiner has determined that his death was a homicide. Aspects of the case remain under investigation and the facts and evidence will be placed on the record at the preliminary examination.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Defendant France with Felony Murder, Child Abuse First Degree, Torture, and Concealing the Death of an Individual. * She was arraigned and remanded to jail today. The Probable Cause Conference is on July 8, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination is on July 15, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. before Judge Kenneth King.

"The alleged facts in this case have astounded even the seriously jaded. Our children continue to be at risk - not just from gun violence but also from the alleged murderer that lives in the house with them," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
