Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Leslie Gwen Neuman, 32, (DOB: 07/17/1984), of Livonia, in connection with the death of her six-month-old infant son. On December 29, 2016 at 6:00 a.m., Livonia Police Officers were dispatched to a home in the 9300 block of Iowa Street, where they observed an infant boy unresponsive laying on a couch. CPR was performed and the child was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. It is alleged that Neuman placed the infant in the bed with her which created an unsafe sleep situation resulting the death of her child. The specific facts and evidence in the case will be placed on the record at the preliminary examination.

The defendant was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Child Abuse Second Degree*. She was arraigned this morning in 16th District Court in Livonia and received a $100,000/10% bond. Her probable cause conference is on September 28, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kathleen McCann in 16th District Court.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
