Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Sara Marie King, 25 (DOB: 7/16/91) of Detroit, with two Counts of Child Abuse Second Degree.* On January 28, 2017 at approximately 2:40 p.m., it is alleged that she left her two daughters, ages six-years-old and eight-months-old, alone in their home, located in the 1600 block of Tyler. The six-year-old went outside on the porch and yelled to neighbors for help. A neighbor took the girls to her house and called the police. When the police arrived at the girlsâ€™ home, they observed that there was no heat or lights and the home was in terrible condition. The girls were taken to a local hospital and are now residing with a relative.
The defendant was arraigned this morning in 36th District Court. The probable cause conference is scheduled for February 9, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for February 14, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $75,000/10% bond.
