Ramirez Dewberry - Homeless man charged in the Highland Park sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl Probable Cause Conference today. His preliminary examination is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in 30th District Court in Highland Park.

Jayru Campbell - Cass Tech Football Player charged in assault on his ex-girlfriend. On December 17, 2014, the Cass Tech High football player sentenced on one count of domestic violence by Judge Carter to a one-year probation term consecutive to the jail time imposed by Judge Kenny on the probation violation on a case where he assaulted a security officer earlier this year. Campbell was ordered to be tested for steroid use; the court ordered a psychiatric evaluation, anger management classes and entry into a mentoring program run by former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office appealed the dismissal of a count of Unarmed Robbery at the preliminary examination.

Today the appeal of District Court Judge Ruth Carter's dismissal of the Robbery Unarmed charge was heard by Judge Timothy Kenny. The date was re-set by the court from January 30th to January 20, 2015. Judge Kenny heard arguments from the parties and will issue a written opinion in the matter at an unspecified date the future.

Carjacking Warrant - The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has received a warrant request from the Action Auto Theft Task Force for a 51-year-old male that is a suspect in a carjacking that occurred on Evergreen on Monday, January 12, 2015. The warrant remains under review.

Kenyatta Jamison - Defendant charged in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man in at Gratiot Central Market located at Eastern Market will have a bench trial* before Judge Timothy Kenny that will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m.

*A bench trial is heard by a judge without a jury present.

Fredrick K. Young and Felando D. Hunter - Defendants convicted for the July 2012 homicides of Westland teens Jacob Kudla and Jourdan Bobbish, who were discovered dead in a field on Lyford and French Roads in Detroit. Today Young and Hunter were sentenced on two counts each of First Degree Murder and Felony Murder to Life in Prison without Parole. They each received: 50 to 75 years on the Torture count; 50 to 75 years on the Armed Robbery count and two years that will run consecutive to all the charges on the Felony Firearm count. Young received a five year concurrent sentence for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Taylor Carjacking Warrant - A warrant request has been presented by the Taylor Police Department for review regarding an incident that occurred on Mary Street on January 19, 2015 at 8:10 p.m.

Anthony Baldwin - Defendant charged in connection with the homicide of a 15-year-old male at a Family Dollar Store on Joy Road in Detroit. The preliminary examination date was changed from January 22 until January 26, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. The case will be heard by 36th District Court Judge Ronald Giles in the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.

Taylor Man Charged with Stealing Police Car to Flee Multiple Car Crashes

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged a 27-year-old man* (DOB10/12/87), of Taylor, with Unlawful Driving Away an Automobile, Malicious Destruction of Police Property, two counts of Resisting and Obstruction Police Officers, Operating While Under the Influence Second Degree, Failure to Stop at a Personal Injury Accident, Possession of Marijuana, Failure to Stop at a Property Damage Accident and Open Intoxicants in a Vehicle.

On January 19, 2015 at approximately 8:10 p.m., the Taylor Police were dispatched to the scene of a hit and run incident in the 23700 block of Mary Street, where it is alleged that the defendant crashed his truck into a car. The male victim in this crash did not suffer any juries but his car was not able to drive. Investigation by the police revealed the defendant also crashed his truck into a car located at Telegraph and Mary Street. The second crash victim was injured and was treated at a local hospital. When the defendant's truck crashed and hit a telephone pole on Pine Street, he fled on foot and was shortly after observed driving off in a Taylor police vehicle. When he hit a fire hydrant on the corner of Mary and Pine Streets and was apprehended by the police, he is alleged to have resisted arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned in 23nd District Court on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.

*The defendant's name will be released tomorrow morning when the judge signed the warrant

UPDATE: Today Wiginton was arraigned in 23nd District Court and a $150,000 cash or surety bond was set by Judge Joseph Slavens. His Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for February 2, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. and his Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 9, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Slavens.

Roksana Sikorski and Michael Rivera - Teen girl and boyfriend charged in connection with assault on the girl's brother and the conspiracy to kill her family. The case was scheduled for a preliminary examination on January 23, 2015 in 35th District Court in Plymouth. Judge Michael Gerou has rescheduled the case for both defendants to February 2, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. for the Competency Hearing to be followed by the Preliminary Examination at 10:00 a.m. on the same day.

Four Men Charged In Westland Homicide

The Female Victim's Body was Found in Dearborn Heights

Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Terrance Harold Johnson, 44, of Westland, Randy Demario Batts, 30, of Detroit, Joshua Hurston-Herron, 23, of Detroit and Michael Richard Bashlor, 34, who is transient, in connection with the homicide of Diedra Akins, 46, of Westland. On January 18, 2015 at 5:00 a.m., it is alleged that Defendant Johnson fatally beat Ms. Akins while aided by Batts. Ms. Akins was killed in the home she shared with Defendant Jackson located in the 32000 block of Grand Traverse in Westland. Defendants Hurston and Bashlor are alleged to have assisted Johnson and Batts in taking Ms. Akins's lifeless body from her home and dumping her body in Dearborn Heights. More specific facts of the crime will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Today Johnson was arraigned and remanded to jail on one count of First Degree Murder. Batts was arraigned on one count each of First and Second Degree Murder and remanded to jail. Hurston-Herron and Bashlor are charged with one count each of Accessory After the Fact. Hurston-Herron and Bashlor each received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. The Probable Cause Hearing is scheduled for January 29, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. and the Preliminary Examination will be held on February 5, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Mark McConnell.

Jayru Campbell - Cass Tech High School Football Player accused of an August 31, 2014 assault on an inmate that occurred in the Wayne County Jail. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has completed the warrant review in this matter and has determined that there is insufficient evidence to support any criminal charges.
